I bought these (just needed 1) to use as a handle to my gnome door (about 8" tall). It's a perfect size and finish, and has a little "heft" to it, so it's not delicate.

Finishing touch for DIY jewelry case
Using a 1/16" drill bit, I pre-drilled holes for the screws into MDF jewelry trays, (purchased online at a store supplier). I probably could have skipped the pre-drill. With a tiny Phillips screwdriver, the screws fit snugly and the handles are secure.
