Not a real chalkboard
I purchased this "chalk board" cause it was cheap and the right size that I needed. However its a plastic board, you could save this and do a DIY by painting the board with black chalk paint to make it a real one, or just buy a legit chalk board.
LOVE this chalkboard!
I've repeatedly bought this chalkboard for a number of parties. It's so lightweight and works beautifully with chalk markers. Clean up is a breeze too. Highly recommend!
Great for Crafting
As other reviews indicate, this board is plasticized, so real chalk will not work effectively. It's perfect for chalk or paint markers, however!
Better After Project
We bought 2 to use at a reception. Added beautiful wood moldings that had been textured and painted antique gold. Turned out absolutely fabulous. Have used them 4 times since. Worth it.
Not a chalk board.
Just awful. Real chalk does not hold onto the plastic board and every stroke of chalk marker shows up. You are better off painting a board with chalk paint than purchasing this product. I professionally create chalk board menus and will not buy again.
Awesome
I spray painted this chalkboard to go with my décor. With it being a plastic board I imagine actual chalk wont work as well, but I have no problems writing on it with a pen.
Good value
Make sure you season the chalkboard first! If not, you'll find this difficult to write on. Once seasoned, works like a charm!

In this instance, you get what you pay for. It’s not a real chalkboard.
Good price and quality
I've used this chalkboard for three separate occasions and it worked well. I did season the board which allowed it to look more like an authentic chalkboard and used chalk markers as chalk itself did not adhere well.
Chalk won’t even show up on
Very difficult to write on with chalk, even after I seasoned the board. Horrible product.
