Project Instructions
-
Step 1
Prep the wood. You will need a wooden base to act as the main command center background, as well as a wooden shelf to adhere to this base. Sand the wood with a sanding block to remove any rough edges. Stain the wood and allow to dry.
-
Step 2
Attach the shelf to the plywood. Apply wood glue to the back of the shelf and place on the bottom of the plywood sheet. To fully secure, use the Fiskars® Precision Hammer and nails to attach the shelf to the plywood from the back.
-
Step 3
Attach the chalkboard & corkboard to the plywood sheet. Cut your chalkboard vinyl to size using the Fiskars® PowerCut™ Shears and remove the backing paper to adhere to the plywood. For the corkboard use Velcro strips to attach the cork board.
-
Step 4
Make hooks for hanging keys. Place the dowel on your workbench and clamp in place to hold. Measure 2” lengths with a tape measure and cut with the Fiskars® Precision Saw. Sand the ends of the dowel with a sanding block to remove any rough edges.
-
Step 5
Attach the hooks. On the back of the plywood, mark placement of the hooks. Hammer a nail through each point, through the back plywood. Apply wood glue to the bottom of each hook and place on the point of each nail and hammer the top of the hook.

Step 6
Add a magnetic strip. My kids leave me lots of notes and I always have receipts I don’t want to lose. By adding a magnetic strip, I knew I could pin these to my command center and have everything stored in one spot.
