
DIY Ear Wires

Project Instructions

Step 1
To make two ear wires at once, cut wire to about 4” and bend in half. Use chain nose pliers to pinch and flatten wire at bend. Tip: Keep wires as straight and neat as possible.

Step 2
Use round nose pliers to form loop where halfway point is flat.

Step 3
Use bail-making pliers to create curved shape of ear wire. Tail should barely extend past loop. Use flush cutters to trim excess length.

Step 4
Use round nose pliers to give straight end of ear wire a slight bend.

Step 5
Use flush cutters to cut the loop from step 3, creating two separate ear wires.

Step 6
Use file to smooth down tips of ear wire. Tip: File gently in one direction only.

Step 7
Place earring on small loop and close with round nose pliers.
