Simple Weaving Project
This colorful wall hanging project is a simple place to start. Work on it yourself or use it as a rainy-day activity for kids. Tip: Although these step-by-step instructions are fairly easy to follow, we recommend checking out our Weaving Loom Basics video on the Hobby Lobby YouTube channel before you begin.

Project Instructions
-
Step 1
To begin, assemble the adjustable loom to your desired size by following the instructions on the packaging. We also recommend visiting the Hobby Lobby YouTube channel to watch our video on weaving loom basics. For the tassels: Cut several pieces of yarn at the same length. Wrap each chunk of yarn over two of your warp lines and then loop them back inward and pull them all the way down.
-
Step 2
For this basic weaving technique, you’ll establish a shed, which is a gap created between the upper and lower warp threads at a 1:1 ratio. Load your shuttle (the tool holding the yarn that will form the weft of your weave). Next, push the shuttle through your shed, pulling your warp tightly so that your weaving doesn’t cave in toward the middle of your project.
-
Step 3
To create the braid, loop your yarn around the warp, skipping one each time, and pull through.
-
Step 4
When you get to the end, repeat the process in the other direction.
-
Step 5
Once you’re done, weave any hanging bits of yarn into the back of your piece so the front will appear clean and finished.
-
Step 6
Take off the loops one by one, cutting and tying each to secure the tassels.
-
Step 7
Continue the process until all of the tassels are secured to your weaving. Trim the bottoms of the tassels for a clean line and consistent length.
-
Step 8
Weave a dowel rod through the top of your piece and then pull off each loop. Your wall weaving is now ready to display!
