Dowels shatter when cut to size
I've used many different brands of plastic dowels and these are possibly the worst. They shatter into pointed shards when any pressure is applied to cut them to size, which is kind of the idea when cutting to the correct height for different cakes.
Great cake dowels
These are great for stacked cakes. I have used them for literally hundreds of cakes. You need to use the correct tool to cut them. I use a miter box and have also used an exacto knife.
