Sewing Elastic

Sewing elastic is a great material to add to your supply of sewing notions, so you can bring more stretch handmade garments and DIY projects. We offer elastic in black, white, and clear, with thicknesses varying from 1/16” to 1 1/2” to meet your many crafting needs.

Knit & Clear Elastic

Knitted elastic is the most common choice and is softer than woven and braided elastic. It’s ideal for using with light to medium-weight fabric. Use it to make a supportive pair of maternity pants or a cozy pair of stretchy pants.

Use clear elastic to stabilize shoulder seams, on knit or stretchy clothes, to prevent them from stretching out or sagging over time. It will help shape necklines, armholes, swimwear, and leg openings for undergarments. It’s also great for creating lightweight gathers and ruffles or side-ruching for apparel sewing projects.

Braided Elastic

Braided elastic is a lightweight and breathable material that has horizontal ribs that run across its braided body, and it narrows and can roll when stretched. It’s ideal for casings that are placed in waistbands and sleeve hems. Use it to make comfy cuffed sweatpants or stylish hair scrunchies to accessorize with.

Woven Elastic

We have woven elastic, also known as non-roll elastic. It’s known for its horizontal and vertical ribs and is ideal for medium to heavyweight garments that need to be supportive, like outwear, bags, and casings. It’s a great choice for directly sewing onto fabric.

In addition, we carry round and oval elastic cord, as well as stretch cord for beading. We also have elastic sewing thread, which is great for shirring and smocking on lightweight dresses.
