Summer Garden

Foster a love for nature this summer when you teach your kids how to garden! It’s easier than you think, and with the right garden tools, your child will be able to observe the circle of life firsthand.

Start off with the right foundation, whether that is using the ground, a garden bed, or a flower pot. Hobby Lobby has a great selection of planters to get you started. Fill them up with the proper soil. Then, select a plant you would like to grow.

Once you have picked out your plant, put on some gardening gloves. We have some that are decorated with adorable cartoon bugs for a fun touch! Now grab your tool bag and get to planting.

Use a hand rake to loosen the soil. Then, take a hand shovel to make an opening for your plant. Slide the plant into the opening, and pat the excess soil on top. Even though the planting process is over, upkeep is important!

Water your plants with a watering can shaped like a dinosaur or a unicorn to make your kiddos smile. Remove pesky weeds with a garden hoe. Observe the plant closely with a magnifying glass. Nothing beats this hands-on learning experience.
