Falling Apart
Immediately, it began to fall apart. I took it outside and gave it a little shake, thinking maybe it was just some loose pieces…Nope, the more I shook, the more straw fell out. I DON'T RECOMMEND! Can't put it inside. It'll be kindling now.

Created a mess instead of a decorative touch. Was outside on porch for only a few hours. Straw pieces just seemingly fall off by themselves. Realized this was going to be a constant clean up routine if left out for season. Not worth it.

It's so funny that people are complaining that a bundle of straw will shed straw. That is just what straw bundles do.
Bale of hay
Straw bales shed… constantly. If you've ever carried a bale of hay to a horse stall, while losing half of it on the way, then you'd know. These are nice, but also realistic. If you don't like messes, then don't buy straw.
WOW! They shed?
I've used these bales for my outdoor decorating most every fall into winter. Yes, they shed just like the larger ones used for bedding and stall padding, just like the ones on the ranches and farms. But that's the beauty of them for seasonal decorating.
